WHAT IS UROLOGY?
Urology is a surgical specialty focused on conditions affecting the urinary and reproductive systems.
This includes urinary tract disorders in both men and women, and reproductive health issues in men. There is some overlap with other areas of medicine, including gynaecology, genitourinary medicine, reproductive medicine, and nephrology (medical kidney disease).
Although urology is a surgical field, surgery is not always required. In fact, only around 25% of patients referred to me by their GP will need an operation. Many urological conditions can be effectively managed through non-surgical, medical treatments.

Prostate Health & Cancer
As your Urology Consultant, I provide care from the earliest PSA blood tests through to diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. This includes carrying out a prostate biopsy when further investigation is needed. If treatment is required, I will guide you through your options, including hormone therapy, brachytherapy, cryotherapy or prostatectomy. My goal is to support you with clear advice and ongoing care at every stage.

Bladder & Urethral Procedures
I offer procedures such as cystoscopy and cystodiathermy to treat bladder inflammation or bleeding, cystolitholopaxy stone removal, and bladder neck incision to relieve urinary blockage. These treatments are designed to restore comfort and function. I will always explain your options clearly and support you throughout your recovery.

Benign Prostate Treatment (BHP)
For men with urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate, I offer minimally invasive, effective procedures such as TUNA and TURP. I carry out a full range of procedures including circumcision, vasectomy, vasectomy reversal, hydrocele repair and varicocele embolisation.
