Overview of Medico-Legal Expertise
Professor Francis Chinegwundoh MBE has been providing medico-legal reports since 2000. With more than two decades of experience, he is regularly instructed by solicitors, third-party agencies (including Premex, Injury QED and the GMC in fitness-to-practice investigations), and international clients. His medico-legal work covers a wide range of cases, including medical negligence, personal injury, and criminal matters where urological expertise – particularly erectile function – is relevant.
Types of Reports Produced
- Medical negligence cases
- Personal injury claims
- Criminal cases involving urological issues
- Fitness-to-practice investigations (GMC and equivalent bodies)
- Joint expert witness reports
In 2024 alone, Professor Chinegwundoh produced over 90 detailed reports, evenly split between claimant and defence, ensuring a balanced perspective.

Reports are commissioned either directly by solicitors or through third-party organisations. Professor Chinegwundoh has also been instructed internationally, with cases from:
- Hong Kong (2010)
- Australia (2011)

Courtroom & Expert Witness Experience
Professor Chinegwundoh is listed on the UK Register of Expert Witnesses and several other medico-legal databases. He has extensive courtroom experience, including appearances as an expert witness where he has been cross-examined. His balanced approach and clear, evidence-based reports have earned him recognition and trust from both claimant and defence solicitors.
Case Examples
Professor Chinegwundoh’s medico-legal expertise has been sought in both civil and criminal proceedings. Cases have involved:
- Personal injury claims involving erectile dysfunction
- Medical negligence cases concerning delayed diagnosis
- Criminal proceedings where age, mental health, or urological function were central issues
For example, in a widely reported Old Bailey case, an elderly defendant avoided prison after fatally stabbing his nephew while in a state of acute delirium. Expert medical evidence was critical in helping the court understand how age-related confusion and underlying medical conditions contributed to the incident.
